About

The Migalle Arcana

Why the Migalle Arcana?

My goal with the Migalle Arcana was to redesign the tarot to make it more meaningful for myself and, hopefully, for more people today.

There are many decks available today and almost all are based on the Rider-Waite deck developed in the late 19th century. While they vary primarily in style and imagery, the Migalle Arcana goes beyond design changes to offer a reimagined approach to tarot.

Rethinking The Journey

The Major Arcana cards were intended to describe The Fool's journey through 21 spiritual stages. The Migalle Arcana keeps The Fool because The Fool represents all of us. However, we're not keen on the spiritual journey idea because it feels too linear and prescriptive.

The Fool remains because The Fool represents all of us—the eternal beginner, the curious explorer, the one willing to take risks and embrace the unknown.

What We've Changed

Several of the traditional Major Arcana cards have been removed because they are gendered hierarchical archetypes—the Emperor and Empress—and religious figures—The Pope, the High Priestess and the Hierophant—because they are relics of 19th century occultists.

Same with The Devil or Temperance, so you won't find them here. The Fury replaces The Chariot and the Hanged Man is now Limbo.

A Contemporary Inclusive Approach

The Migalle Arcana removes outdated hierarchical and religious symbolism, replacing them with archetypes that speak to contemporary human experience. Our cards reflect the complexity of modern life while honoring the reflective power of tarot.

Rather than following a prescribed spiritual path, the Migalle Arcana invites you to explore your own unique journey of self-discovery. Each card offers insights that can be applied to your individual circumstances and personal growth.

For Entertainment and Reflection

The Migalle Arcana is designed as a tool for entertainment, self-reflection, and creative inspiration. We believe in the power of storytelling and symbolism to spark meaningful introspection, without making claims about predicting the future or providing supernatural guidance.

Whether you're new to tarot or a longtime enthusiast, we hope The Migalle Arcana offers you a fresh perspective on this ancient practice, updated for the modern world.
